Profile

Given that he bowls with tremendous pace and hostility, Mick Lewis shapes as being an increasingly important cricketer for Victoria over forthcoming seasons. His entry to first-class cricket was stalled by the presence in the Bushrangers' squad of an outstanding list of fast bowlers and, perhaps even more significantly, by an unusual background which did not see him attend an Institute of Sport program or play a single match at junior representative level for his state. Instead, Lewis learnt his trade in regional Victoria and it was only after he switched to Northcote in the late 1990s that he sought to translate to elite level his ability to pressure batsmen readily with his length, speed, and aggressive attitude. A hard working and determined right armer, he seized five wickets in the first innings of the 2000-01 Pura Cup Final in Brisbane in arguably his most impressive performance to date
